Today was Matthew's last day of 1st grade! I can hardly believe it. What a year!!! We laughed, we cried, we cried some more, but in the end, we learned a lot. Matthew has become an absolutely awesome reader this year. He has also become quite the history buff and is constantly telling me all about the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. He finds that stuff fascinating. He was so lucky to have another great teacher. Mrs. Marcum definitely kept things interesting for him and shared his love of Skittles...who could ask for more?
This morning started off with our traditional breakfast out. (Just for the record, Sammy got to go out for breakfast on his last day of school a few weeks ago, but he refused to have his picture taken at all the whole day!). Matthew chose to get a bagel from the am/pm gas station convenience store. He LOVES the bagels they have and never passes up an opportunity to stop in and get one. (I know it sounds like a strange request, but in his defense, the bagels are surprisingly good for a gas station.) Once he got to school, K-4th grade was having Field Day. Even though it was a hot day, we had so much fun!! I volunteered to help out and ended up running the water balloon toss station . After field day, the class had a picnic lunch and then headed inside to cool off with a movie and some snacks. It was a great end to a great year!
Getting ready to head off for his last day as a 1st grader. :(
So happy to be having one of his favorite things!
Bagel bug eyes!
That's him going down the slide at Field Day. Some teacher walked right in front of my camera.
Luke has been Matthew's best friend at school this year.
